Your Options

With five different options to choose from there is a package to suit all budgets and tastes.

In a few instances it is possible to accommodate up to five people on one booking (Emu Walk 2 Bed-roomed apartments or Sails in the Desert Superior rooms only).

Please Note: There is no ‘entry only’ option for the Australian Outback Marathon.

All prices are on a “per person” basis.
Unless you are a Yulara resident, you MUST purchase a package either with or without accommodation.
A child is considered to be between the ages of 3 and 12 years inclusive at the time of check-in
Children 2 years and under are FREE OF CHARGE if using existing bedding
Children requiring a rollaway bed will incur an additional $48 per night charge
Adults who are not participating in one of the Australian Outback Marathon events receive a $100 discount off the price of the adult package
All prices are quoted in Australian Dollars (AUD)
Extra Night price is per adult staying in the room

For those choosing a “No Accommodation” package

Please ensure that you check the itineraries in the lobby of Sails in the Desert Hotel, Desert Gardens Hotel or the Outback Pioneer Hotel for itinerary details
There will be no notice board provided at the Ayers Rock Campground – please check the itineraries in the lobby of the Outback Pioneer Hotel if you choose to stay at the Ayers Rock Campground
Breakfast is only included on Friday morning for the Platinum, Diamond and Silver packages (breakfast box).
Breakfast IS NOT included on Race Day for all “No Accommodation” packages
All evening meals are included as per your itinerary
If you choose to stay at the camp-ground, your pick-up point for all tours will be at the Outback Pioneer Hotel lobby

Frequently Asked Questions

What Is the date of the race?

The Australian Outback Marathon will always be held on the last Saturday in July. The dates for the next few years are:

2025 – 26th July
2026 – 25th July
2027 – 31st July

Can I simply enter the Australian Outback Marathon without purchasing a package?

Entries to the Australian Outback Marathon are only available as part of a Package and there are no “Entry Only” options available.

What are the different distances that comprise the Australian Outback Marathon?

There are four different events for you to choose from

42.2km Marathon
21.1km Half-Marathon
11km fun run/walk (approximate distance)
6km fun run/walk (approximate distance)

We strongly encourage ALL participants to get involved in one of the events

Are there age restrictions for any of the events?

The 6km fun run/walk and the 11km fun run/walk are open to all ages.
To participate in the Half-Marathon you must be aged 15 years or older on race day. To participate in the Marathon you must be 18 years or older on race day.

What time do the events start?

The Marathon and Half-Marathon will both start at approximately 7:45am.
The 11km fun run and 6km fun run will start at approximately 8:30am

Where do I pick up my race pack?

Your race pack will be available for you on either Thursday or Friday, depending on when you arrive at the Ayers Rock Resort.

We will have a specially dedicated Australian Outback Marathon reception area setup on the grass near the Town Square between 2pm and 4pm each day, allowing you to check in to your hotel and then collect your race pack at your leisure.

NOTE: for all activities that are included in your itinerary you MUST be in possession of your wrist band which you will receive when you pick up your race-pack. This includes all tours, transfers (other than upon your arrival), all meals (including resort breakfast) and transfers to and from the race start/finish area.

If you are unable to collect your race pack prior to your included functions, please be assured that we will make provisions for you so that you don’t miss out on any included functions. If you have elected to purchase a “No Accommodation” package, please ensure that you have notified us of your accommodation choice NO LATER than the first Friday in July.

It is mandatory that all guests collect their race pack prior to race day.

If you choose to stay at the camp-ground, your pick-up point for all tours will be at the Outback Pioneer Hotel lobby

How will the Marathon, Half-marathon, 11km and 6km races be signed?

All events will have distance markers at every kilometre. In addition, each kilometre sign will also have the distance in miles on the sign. Also, the entire course will be clearly marked with “arrowed” signage to ensure that you will always know which way to go when out on the course.

Each different event will have its signage colour-coded according to the distance

The Australian Outback Marathon had been on my bucket list for a few years. I was so pleased I was able to sneak away between lockdowns and spend 6 days with the Travelling Fit team and the group of happy runners I met there. I absolutely loved the marathon. It was hot, it was sandy, it was stunning, it was peaceful, it was challenging, it was cathartic, it was everything I dreamed it would be and more. Combined with the marathon, all the activities and tours over the 6 days made it the complete package of what a holiday should be. I could not recommend this trip more highly. If you only get a chance to run one race then this is the one to do, it should be on everyone's bucket list. We were told before the run to take time to enjoy the run and stop to take photos and look around and enjoy it, this is something I have never done on a run before but it was the best advice ever.

Frank and I had the most magical time during the AOM. Incredible views no matter which way you looked, Great accommodation, the way the AOM's incredibly experienced team just 'made' things happen. The Tours, especially the Kings Canyon tour, create those never to be forgotten' memories that stay etched in us - as does the red earth course we traversed during the event. Thank you so much 'Team AOM' for this fabulous experience.

If you haven't run the AOM you really should put this one on your list! It can only be described as an adjective salad! Amazing, unique and awe inspiring are only the tip of the iceberg... it was an absolutely incredible experience from beginning to end. In 2019 I took a chance and booked for the Australian Outback Marathon with Travelling Fit. I was a bit apprehensive about bringing my son and his young family along with me as I felt the kids might have to miss out on a lot of the "adult" activities. I was wrong. This was THE MOST AMAZING and mind-blowing experience we have had as a family. I can't praise the whole trip highly enough. The food was absolutely amazing, the staff were great, the accommodation was perfect and the race was unbelievable. I get emotional when I think about it, and can't imagine having another experience like this again. Everyone loved it, the food was AMAZING, activities and transfers were so well organized, there was plenty to do and it really wasn't that cold! If you have the chance to do this or are undecided, do it! I'll be going back. Thank you Travelling Fit for one of the top ten experiences of my life so far.

I just want to thank you and the rest of the Travelling Fit team for a fantastic weekend last week at Yulara. I had the best weekend that I have ever had. I have never been to a place where everyone made me feel so welcome. It was the first time that I've been to the Northern Territory so the heat,flies,sand and camels eating our signs made it so special to me. I loved all the jokes from everyone, even the bus driver who was taking us to the airport told us that we was going to Darwin and the lady bus driver on the drop on drop off bus told us at a stop at Uluru and people running towards her that if she drives forward they would run harder so then she drives forward. There were so many more. I loved all the dinners. I don't eat out much so they made me feel special. The marathon yes was hard but I loved every minute of it. It didn't help that it was snowing at home for the 2 weeks before. I do want to run it again and I would like it the same you couldn't fault it. Thanks so much
